Dad,
Try not dragging it onto the StuffIt Icon. I believe I wrote to Open StuffIt, then select “UnZip” from the “Archive” menu… I think those were the steps. If I try to drag the .zip to my StuffIt Icon it (the Icon) doesn’t even HiLite, nor launch StuffIt; I’m using version 3.5 of StuffIt though.

If you Double click the ZipIt 1.3.5 Icon, it should come up with three options, two active (“Register”, and “Print Order Form”) and One Greyed out (“Not Yet”). If you wait 10 or 15 seconds, the “Not Yet” option SHOULD change from grey to active giving you the chance to “try it out” for (by my accounts) an unlimited period.

Try Sending it back to me? I’ll see If My ZipIt thinks its corrupt.

Joe

Joe-
When I drag it to the Stuffit ikon, I get a message that the zip/gzip file is
either damaged or is not a zip file.

I have downloaded UnZip 2.0 (so far it does nothing) and ZipIt 1.3.5 (for
which I apparently have to register and get a password. But, I went ahead and
dragged Testtext.zip onto the ZipIt 1.3.5 and got (in addition to the
RegisterNow stuff) a sign saying 1) Is it a valid Zip archive? 2) Was it
transferred in a binary mode, not TEXT? 3) If it is aa multi-segment archive,
open the final segment for ZipIt to read… 4) See troubleshooting
instructions.

UnZip 2.0 Docs is dated 9-27-92, UnZip 2.0 is dated 9-12-94, ZipIt 1.3.5 is
dated 1-1-96.

More later as the saga unfolds.
